You've Written An e-Book, Now What?
It's funny, the question often arises from existing internet business operators..."I want to write a book or ebook, how do I start?" Today though, the question I saw in my Inbox when I first checked mail was "I have an ebook, now what?" True, it is the reverse problem that most internet marketers go through where they have an idea for market, perhaps even an active online business but now see the advantage to having their own e-book or information product. As more and more people figure out how simple it really can be for them to write and produce their own e-book, book and information-based products by using systems like the one outlined in the Ultimate Information Entrepreneur's Success Package, the question will become what ELSE do you need to do once you have your e-book ready for primtetime? As part of InfoMarketer'sZone we provide you with a complete, week-by-week checklist for producing a highly profitable information product business online...taken from that checklist, here are the main steps you will need to follow: 1. Get some reviews and testimonials for your e-book. This is extremely important, when I launch an e-book I have found feedback from early reviewers extremely valuable pointing out small changes I could make to turn the product from OK into a much better product. In addition, if you can launch with a few testimonials your sales letter will be much more effective. 2. Put up a website - ideally a content-oriented site that will help you generate traffic and test some of the main sub-topics within your marketplace. For example, let's say you intend to focus on exercises for weight loss, then launch a weight loss site with 5 sub-pages focused on major segments within weight loss such as: diet pills, exercise, weight loss programs, weight loss equipment, weight loss motivation. Now, as you generate traffic to the site you will notice how much traffic goes to each page and judge demand as you go about launching your business. 3. Get an autoresponder account so you can start list building. Do this early, your ability to collect a list should be started immediately. 4. Create or find a high-value, relevant and valuable giveaway for your visitors as an incentive to opt-in to your email list. This will help conversions of your early traffic into targeted, valuable subscribers. 5. Launch a blog...post daily with opt-in signup. Blogs are powerful mechanisms for search engine indexing, generating traffic and allowing for user-generated content. 6. Have e-book graphics developed. Having a professional set of graphics to use for your own site as well as to support your affiliates and partners to promote your product is an important part of looking "real" and professional. 7. Create a powerful, benefit-oriented sales letter for your e-book. Spend some time studying top websites in your niche market - make note of the emotional linkages they are making with your marketplace. Begin by creating 20 benefit-oriented bullets based on what your customers will get from your e-book. 8. Choose and sign-up with a payment processor such as Paypal, Clickbank, 2Checkout.com. You need to be able to take payment for your e-books, so get this taken care of quickly and get your order button up on your webpage. 9. Decide on an affiliate management and tracking program so you can begin quietly signing up partners to help you promote your product at launch. Too many e-book marketers leave this step out or defer it for months. That is a mistake since early affiliate recommendations can make a massive difference in traffic, sales and overall market perception of your e-book. 10. Prepare and execute your launch plan. You'll want to follow some critical steps of creating attention and anticipation for your e-book instead of just putting up the webpage and expecting a flood of sales on the first day. You need to plan for success, not just expecting it to happen automatically Then what do you do? Make sure you have a feedback loop built into your post-sale process. When someone buys your e-book, they should get an email from you with the download information. Then in a few days, you should send them a brief questionnaire with the promise of sending them an additional bonus (a checklist, implementation guide, report, etc...) so you get both positive feedback and new ideas for additonal products. As you can see, successful profits with writing and marketing your own e-books is not an accident but a well structured, planned process that can turn you into an information product publishing superstar...it's all within your reach.
